However the error is not confined to IE it also happens when I open Skype, Acrobat Reader and Microstation (a CAD program). By not performing these updates the system appeared stable, at least until a week ago when the above Internet Explorer error appeared. I finally isolated the problem to Microsoft Automatic Updates and the Asus Live Update Bios Upgrade for Versions V1.0.21 and V2.31.1. I have my G74sx for about 3 months during this time I have restored the system on at least 5 or 6 occasions on the advice of the vendor I purchased it from. whenever i open ANYTHING that has to do with windows exporer, i get the error message and everything just shuts down and i am back at my desktop. It is quite redicilous that I should have a problem like this when the computer is brand new. I literally got the notebook 2 hours ago, suddenly i get the error message mentioned in the title, and I have the option to restard it, or look for solutions on the internet. I waited 3 weeks for it to come in the mail, and when i finally get it, its completely #$%&'ed up. the problem is if i even try to open any files, it gets the "windows explorer has stopped working" error instantly.Īlso, I went into cmd and did the Sfx /scannow (i think that was what it was called, or maybe it was Sfc /scannow) and it said that there was something wrong, but that the system couldnt fix it.

I'm a complete noob when it comes to computers but i think it has something to do with the ASUSWSSHellExt64.dll file or something. It's in norwegian but in same order as it would say it in english. Navn på feilmodul: ntdll.dll and sometimes this says ASUSWSSHellExt64.dll I uninstalled windows live essentials and those free games that came preinstalled with it. I've restarted it a couple of times now tbh.
